As an accredited member of the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History in Sioux Falls, SD strives to fulfill four major objectives: Education, Conservation, Recreation and Discovery.
The Great Plains Zoo features over 1,000 animals from around the world. Our 45-acre park offers up-close views of animals often not found in larger zoos, including giraffes, tigers, rhinos and a jumping, hooting array of primates. Watch the playful tiger cubs at the Asian Cat exhibit. Visit mom, dad, and baby rhino at the new “Rare Rhinos of Africa” exhibit. Feed a goat, ride a camel, or get a kiss from a sheep with six horns in the Hy-Vee Face-to-Face Farm.
The Zoo also includes the Delbridge Museum of Natural History, a one-in-the-world collection of 150 mounted animals including 36 “vanishing species.”
Learn about nature and get up-close to the Zoo’s animal ambassadors during spring and fall ZooCub classes, summer ZooCamps, overnight ZooZnoozes, and traveling ZooMobile programs. The Zoo also offers a variety of family-friendly events throughout the year including Breakfast with Santa, Zippity Zoo Day and ZooBoo.

Make plans to attend Zippity Zoo Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9! This popular family event includes face painting, carnival games, Creature Features, Zookeeper talks, and live music. This event is free for Zoo members or with paid admission to the Zoo.

Help Name the Zoo's Baby Goat Contest | Posted: 05/03/12
The Hy-Vee Face-to-Face Farm at the Great Plains Zoo has a new baby goat and we need your help with a name! Fill out a ballot at any one of the seven Sioux Falls Hy-Vee stores. The contest runs now through May 31. If your name is selected, you’ll win a nearly 3-foot plush horse!

Summer ZooCamp Schedule Announced | Posted: 03/06/12
The Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History is excited to announce its new and exciting ZooCamp schedule for summer 2012.
ZooCamps such as “Whose Toes Are Those?,” “ZOOper Heroes,” and “Animal Grossology” guarantee a memorable experience for children ages 2-11. Each camp is customized, but all include lessons, games, crafts, snacks, train or carrousel rides, animal encounters and tours of the Zoo. Camps vary in length, depending on the participant’s age.
Zoo members save 15% on ZooCamps! Registering for ZooCamps online is the best way to assure your place in any camp.
