Zoo Summer Schedule Brings New Programs

The Great Plains Zoo and Delbridge Museum of Natural History will transition to its summer schedule beginning April 1, 2008 and will run through September 1, 2008. The Zoo and Museum will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with gates closing at 6:00 p.m.. The Zoo and Museum are offering a variety of exciting and engaging programs for the public this spring and summer. These programs allow children and adults to learn more about our natural world while also having fun!

The Zoo’s Education Department is hosting Animal Spotlights during the month of May. Animal Spotlights allow Zoo Guests the chance to learn more about the Zoo’s amazing animals while also the rare opportunity to get up-close to some of the Zoo’s fun education animals. See a gecko or a rabbit, or go nose-to-nose with a ferret or an owl! Spotlights are free with paid admission to the Zoo and Museum and will be held at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, with the exception of Memorial Day.

Creature Features will be held in the Zoo’s Children’s Zoo at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday from June 1st through September 1st. Zoo Guests may see a hedgehog or touch a tiger pelt – the public is urged to come often as there will always be something new to see and learn! Come listen to an animal-oriented story at “Story time at the Zoo”! Story Time will be at 10:00 a.m. every Tuesday from June 1 to August 31. Both “Creature Features” and “Story Time at the Zoo” are free with paid admission to the Zoo & Museum.
