Biofact Tours

Have you ever felt a piece of rhino hide? Held a tiger paw in both hands? Biofact tours are great ways to teach about adaptations. This program is easily “adaptable” for all ages. Biofacts are biological artifacts like horns, hide, skulls, eggs and teeth.

Delbridge Museum of Natural History Tours

Be our guest! Come on a guided tour of the Delbridge Museum of Natural History and its mounted animal collection. Whether student, teacher, or parent, all ages can enjoy what the museums has to offer. Tour length will vary depending upon what you would like to see and learn. To make the most of your visit, pre-trip activities can be sent prior to your arrival. Activities for use while touring the Delbridge Museum are also available.

ZooGarten
Kindergarten Group
We think Kindergarteners Rock! The Zoo has a variety of programs that are perfect for your kindergarten class. Just give us a call and we’ll schedule a perfect day and time for you.

ZooKits
ZooKits are hands-on educational kits available to teachers, day care providers, youth leaders, churches, senior centers and program directors. ALL ZooKits include a manual, reproducible handouts, hands-on activities, video, slideshow, puppets, storybooks and biofacts. Biofacts are hides, skulls, teeth, bones, and eggs, etc. Checkout is subject to availability. We recommend calling two weeks in advance. All ZooKits are checked out for one week unless otherwise noted.

| Frogs come in many shapes and sizes. Some live in our backyard, neighborhood, while others are extremely poisonous and can be found in other countries. | Explore the coral reefs, learn about some of the animals that call the ocean home and learn about how we can help save one of the Earth’s largest resources. | All five remaining sub-species of tigers are endangered. By using resources developed by National Geographic explore the jungles of India and the snowcaps of Asia searching for the elusive tiger. |

ZooMobile Program
School or Group
When the ZooMobile pulls into your parking lot an adventure is sure to follow! All ages will enjoy getting a close-up, hands-on opportunity to get nose-to-nose with a variety of creatures as they explore the wonders of the Animal Kingdom. The Great Plains Zoo will travel to your facility to present programs on a variety of topics using live animals and animal artifacts called biofacts. All programs adhere closely to the South Dakota Content Standards for Science. More Information >>
ZooScience
This new program assists teachers by helping students to learn about animals, wild spaces, cultures, and why animals are important. All our classes specialize in hands-on learning that’s customized for all students, whether at home or in a classroom setting. Our education programs are designed to support the South Dakota State Content Standards for science, math, reading, social studies ….and some art, too! Teacher packets with pre- and post activities will be sent to use at your discretion. Classes include: Totally Tigers, Wild for Wolves, Rhino Rally and Zoo Careers.

ZooZnooze
ZooZnoozes are unique camping experiences intended to be fun and educational for everybody involved. Join us on Friday night at 7:00pm for pizza, animal encounters and educational programs, and a flashlight night tour of the Zoo. Then wake up to a continental breakfast of doughnuts, beverages and fruit, and morning tour of the Zoo. The Zootopia Gift Shop will be opened as you leave on Saturday morning at 9:00am just for you! This wild overnight experience is great for scouting and church or civic groups, and a perfect option for families and their reunions.

FEE: $25 per each participant or $100 for family of 5 or more. All ZooZnooses require a minimum of 25 participants.
Don’t have a large group? Come to one of our pre-scheduled ZooZnooses! Watch for additional ZooZnooses throughout the year.
Spend the Night with the One You Love (NEW!)

Looking for something different for Valentines Day this year? Try our couple’s only ZooZnoose. Leave the kids with grandma and grandpa, pack a bag, and join us for a night of animals, fun, and a little romance. Take a romantic moonlit stroll, learn about some of the couples here at the zoo and spend time with the one you love. This is a fun and unique way to reconnect with that special someone in your life. Special activities will be added! Open to anyone 18 years of age or older.
FEE: $65 per couple. Minimum of 15 couples required.
Sleep Snug as a Bear with Your Cubs (NEW!)

Pack your PJs, roll up the sleeping bag and attend this ZooZnooze just for dad and the kids. You’ll have a better time here at the Zoo than mom will alone!
